My experience at MayeCreate Design will always hold a special place in my heart. On a whim, I applied for a Designer position within this small, local graphic and web design company...despite having no graphic design experience and formal education. Monica, Art Director and Owner, took a chance on me and the knowledge I gained during the two years I spent with her and the other hooligans at MayeCreate, is priceless. She allowed me to explore my affection for design, furthered my knowledge of programming...and we may have geeked out a couple times while picking fonts.
My tasks at MayeCreate were vast; I wore many hats. Strictly related to print work, I created marketing materials ranging from business cards to six-foot tall banners, some of which correlated to an existing brand identity.
After some time I became the unofficial in-house designer creating any marketing materials MayeCreate, and sister company, Tranquility Internet, might have needed. One large project was the data/design magazine, otherwise known as my "baby".
Data/design featured one MayeCreate client, one Tranquility customer, and one patron for whom both companies provided services. I interviewed these clients, crafted articles, created the overall style and layouts, and provided all the photography for the magazine.
